FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the next beginner’s course?

We do not provide updates or estimates as to when the next program will begin. If you join the waitlist, that is the only way for you to be notified when the next beginner’s program begins. This is the #1 question we get via email and sadly we cannot respond to these requests - we’d spend more time responding than fencing.

Trust us - if you are on the waitlist, you will receive the notifications.

What does the beginner’s program entail?

Beginner’s courses are 12 weeks long and we typically run 3 of them a year. The first six weeks are longsword and fencing fundamentals, the last six weeks are one-handed weapons.

What’s the difference between the beginner’s program and the introductory membership?

The introductory membership gives you access to all classes and allows you to spar with padded weapons. You need to have this membership in order to attend the beginner’s program. The introductory membership is $75 a month - the program is 12 weeks long, but the membership continues until you cancel it. We have people who feel they aren’t ready to spar with steel so they stay on the introductory membership for a few months after their beginner’s program concludes.

My child is under 18 - can they join?

As a nonprofit, we sadly do not have insurance for youth participation. We have in the past taken youths into the school on a case-by-case basis, but even then our minimum age is 13 years old. You may request your child be considered, but please be respectful if we decline or can’t respond.
